Implantable corrective lenses- Phakic IOL

What is LASIK surgery? Who can benefit from it?
It is a surgical procedure that is meant to help and correct a range of sight issues including nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism. Any person who has these sight-related issues can benefit from LASIK surgery.
Is a LASIK procedure safe?
Most studies and overall practice so far shows that this surgery is quite safe and poses minimal risks of complications. However, since this surgery is performed on the internal and delicate part of the eye, there is a slight risk involved.
Does this procedure hurt?
Since patients are given topical anaesthetic in the form of eye drops, they experience no pain during the procedure. After the procedure, many patients feel a foreign body sensation or as though they are wearing a dirty contact lens. This usually subsides in a few hours.
How long will it take for me to view perfectly after the surgery?
LASIK surgery involves quick recovery. Many patients report good vision a day or two after the procedure. However, vision can constantly improve over three to four months.
Are LASIK results permanent?
Usually, yes. However, your eyes can change internally and cause a change in your sight- which is pretty normal.
When should I get my eyes checked?
Regular eye examination every six to twelve months is recommended. However, if you start witnessing any vision-related problems, visit a doctor as soon as you can to find the root cause of the problem.
Do I need an optometrist or an ophthalmologist?
Both are eye doctors that diagnose and treat many of the same eye conditions. The main difference between the two, is that ophthalmologists perform surgery, where an optometrist would not, preferring to specialize in eye examinations, as well as eyeglass and contact lens related services.
I have "spots" floating around in my eye. Should I be worried?
Spots and floaters are usually harmless. However, in some cases it can be a sign of a retinal detachment or bleeding. Schedule an appointment with your doctor to eliminate any serious eye problems.
Am I a good candidate for refractive surgery?
Patients who are at least 18 years of age, have healthy eyes that are free from retinal problems, corneal scars, and any eye diseases are generally suitable. Many patients who are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism are potential candidates.
